Ashbourne Men;s Shed has announced plans for their participation in ASH2020 and are already working on putting these plans into effect.
“Our focus will be on decorating our Town, making sure it is shown off to best effect for its 200th. Birthday” said Hugh Stevens, (title). ‘We have joined with Murtagh’s who will fund the materials for the making of 20 planter boxes which will be placed throughout the Town. Our guys will do the carpentry bit; Tidy Towns will supply the botanical expertise.”
The design of the planters has already been approved by MCC Engineers. The project will come under the auspices of the ASH2020 Landscape and Environment Stream, headed by Cllr. Alan Tobin.
Additionally, Men’s Shed has been asked to get involved in the construction of an ASH2020 Garden, probably to be situated on a site which will eventually form part of the Linear Park. “Details remain to be worked out on this, but we stand ready to play our part”, said Hugh.
